FCAT... all students who live in florida dread the word
Why you may ask? Simple really, it can hold you back from passing a grade, graduating high school, can put you in lower ability classes and waste the time of those who have already passed it.
Take today for example, I, being an 11th grader, have already passed the FCAT, according to the FCAT all 11th graders should have passed in the 10th grade, but those who didnt have to take it till they do pass or not graduate. I skipped school today, because if I had gone I would have been sitting in some random teachers classroom, one which I have no classes with nor even need to associate with since im in the magnet program and have a "special set" of teachers, (besides the fact she is a dumbass -_-) for 205 minutes. What would I have done if I had gone? Sat there very quietly and still either staring at a computer screen (which I found out were not even working today) or staring at the ceiling with my cd player ticking in my ears.
Now, I could have been in my classes doing something productive and learning but with FCAT I would have only gone to 2 of my classes, the same thing is going to happen tomorrow, but im going to breakfast with some friends then showing up later once FCAT is over. Its happening again next week on monday and tuesday as well, AND they have the balls to make 11th graders take science FCAT now... even tho we were promised since a very young age that we would be done with it after 10th.
I have my opinion, We shouldnt have to take them, and if they insist we do, then the 11th and 12th graders shouldnt have to go to school for the fcat half if we have already passed, since we cant go to our classes, that way we arnt wasting our time just sitting there... but like my teahcer told me..
If you want something done you need your parents to call or email in becuase what the teachers think and what the students think doesnt matter.
But think about it.. all of florida does this, so you would have ot have parents from everywhere complaining about the same thing to get rid of it, maybe we could get enough parents t ocomplain in my area so they will let 11th and 12th miss part of the day..but I doubt it..
